Personal Marketing Statement

Your Personal Marketing Statement

This makes cold calling, networking, or talking to a prospective employer, much easier.

Also known as "elevator statements" or "benefit statements", these scripts introduce you in a confident and informative manner. They're brief (under a minute) and contain your name, your background and experience. You usually include the type of work you're looking for, unless you're in a networking scenario. Build a unique personal marketing statement and practise saying it.

Examples:

Name: Hi, my name is Jay Jones.
Background/Recent Experience: I've been working with ABC Corp. as a senior programmer on the award-winning XYZ project. We've successfully finished this project and I'm looking for other opportunities. I recently read in the Business News that you're working on a project that I think could use my skills.
What I Want: I'm looking for a position that allows me to work with leading-edge technologies

Name: Hi, my name is Jane Smith
Background/Recent Experience: Previously, I worked as a receptionist in a doctor's office, greeting the patients as they arrived and taking care of all their respective records. I've just completed the Unit Clerk's training at Malaspina University-College.
What I Want: I'm looking for a position in the hospital as a unit clerk, or for a job that will lead me to that position.
